Extracurricular Activities at Khalda Independent International Schools

At Khalda Independent International Schools, we are dedicated to promoting extracurricular activities that cater to students' diverse interests outside the academic curriculum, creating opportunities for growth and development.

Examples of Extracurricular Activities:

  • Toastmasters International:

Toastmasters is a global organization focusing on communication and leadership development, with over 352,000 members in 16,400 clubs across 141 countries. Students enhance their public speaking, receive feedback, lead teams, and guide others in a supportive environment. The program emphasizes storytelling, planning, communication, and leadership skills development.

  • Gavel Club:

Designed for younger groups who cannot join full membership, Gavel Club offers Toastmasters experiences. Members, called "Gaveliers," benefit from similar opportunities. The Khalda branch established its Gavel Club in 2018, offering sessions in English for senior students in both the American and British programs.

  • Chess Club:

This activity fosters critical thinking, focus, and memory enhancement among students. Studies show that high school students who engage in chess achieve better results in standardized tests. The club provides opportunities for both casual play and competitive tournaments.

  • Debate and Public Speaking Activities:

IIS Talk and IIS Debate are platforms for students to refine their speaking and debating skills while adhering to rules and etiquette. These activities nurture collaboration, respect, and effective communication.

  • Creative Competitions:
    • Power of Words Writing Contest:

Encourages students to showcase their creativity and writing skills through structured assignments. Students draft early in the second semester and submit final versions after review. Awards are given to top writers.

    • Model United Nations (MUN):

Offers an academic simulation where students represent delegates from various countries and tackle global issues through diplomacy and problem-solving.

    • Annual Spelling Bee:

Enhances spelling, reading fluency, and values like patience, cooperation, respect, and honesty. Participants prepare by memorizing provided word lists for the competition.
