IIS facilitates extracurricular student activities and engagements through abroad range of students’ interests. Examples of the extracurricular activities are:
Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development. Our organization has more than 352,000 memberships. Members improve their speaking and leadership skills by attending one of the 16,400 clubs in 141 countries that make up our global network of meeting locations.
The world needs leaders. Leaders head families, coach teams, run businesses and mentor others. These leaders must not only accomplish, they must communicate. By regularly giving speeches, gaining feedback, leading teams and guiding others to achieve their goals in a supportive atmosphere, leaders emerge from the Toastmasters program. Every Toastmasters journey begins with a single speech. During their journey, they learn to tell their stories. They listen and answer. They plan and lead. They give feedback—and accept it. Through our community of learners, they find their path to leadership.
Gavel clubs are a way of providing the Toastmasters experience to groups who may be ineligible for regular membership due to age, or other circumstances. Gavel club members are referred to as “gaveliers”.
The IIS is an official gavel club since the beginning of 2018. This club is offered to senior students in English for both the American and British programs.
The Chess Club provides students an activity that has multiple benefits for young learners. Among those benefits are improved critical thinking, concentration and memory skills. Studies have shown that high school students that practice chess for three months show improved results in standardized tests. Within the activity, students will have the opportunity free play and tournament play.
IIS Talk and IIS Debate are important activities to enhance the skill of speaking and debating throughout the year. Students are required to debate a certain topic while following all the important rules and regulations of debate. These activities improve speaking skills along with speaking and debating manners of cooperation and respect.
